A connection for Canaima’s young musicians

For young Pemón musicians in the Gran Sabana, an internet connection could expand the ways they learn, rehearse and share their music.

In Kamarata–Kanaimö, in Venezuela’s Gran Sabana, children from the Indigenous Canaima Choir and Orchestra are making music rooted in their community. In 2025, they called on supporters to help bring internet access to the spaces where they rehearse and study.

A wider classroom for a local orchestra

The ensemble is part of the Núcleo Canaima, connected to Venezuela’s national system of youth orchestras and choirs. The foundation’s original account describes a program that gives young Pemón musicians a place to develop their talents while maintaining a connection to their cultural roots.

Reliable connectivity would allow students and instructors to reach educational material and communicate beyond their rehearsal space. It would also help the group share its performances with audiences outside Canaima.

What the 2025 appeal asked for

The request was specific: support for several Starlink antennas and the monthly cost of internet service. Fundación Corazones por la Vida shared the appeal so people who care about music and education could learn about the need.

The story is a reminder that a connection can be a practical learning tool for children whose talent deserves to be heard. The foundation continues to share the work of communities and initiatives seeking meaningful support.
