Potecorazón: a community campaign in 2009

In July 2009, Corazones por la Vida announced a new edition of its music and community fundraising campaign in Caracas. The plan paired two free concerts with Potecorazón, a collection effort intended to benefit children with autism through Fundación Autismo en Acción.

A program across Caracas

The announcement outlined “Camino al Corazón” at Centro Comercial El Recreo on July 15 and a larger concert at Plaza Alfredo Sadel on August 1. Musicians, presenters and other collaborators were invited to donate their work to the program.

Admission to the concerts was described as free. Visitors who wished to help could make voluntary contributions at collection stands, bringing the fundraising effort directly into the event experience.

Volunteers at the heart of the plan

The archive described a team of 100 volunteers expected to take the campaign onto the streets. It presented Potecorazón as a way for neighbors to contribute even if they could not take part on stage.

The stated purpose was to support Fundación Autismo en Acción as it developed services for children with autism and sought to raise awareness in the wider community. This article preserves the announcement as a record of the foundation’s 2009 plans.
