A day for every child: Corazones por la Vida delivered gifts with Soñar Despierto on Children’s Day 2011

More than a delivery, it was an encounter: gifts were placed into children’s hands, volunteers offered their time, and two foundations turned a national celebration into a living expression of care.

Joy delivered personally

Fundación Corazones por la Vida brought gifts and joined Fundación Soñar Despierto in a celebration where children were not spectators: they were the center of every decision, every activity and every embrace.

VENEZUELA — Sunday, July 17, 2011. Fundación Corazones por la Vida joined Fundación Soñar Despierto for a Children’s Day gathering dedicated to creating moments of joy and belonging for children and families. The foundation arrived with gifts to contribute to a day organized around attention, play and the simple but powerful message that every child deserves to feel seen.

In Venezuela, Children’s Day is observed on the third Sunday of July. In 2011, that date fell on July 17. The commemoration offered a natural meeting point for organizations and volunteers who understood that childhood should be protected not only through services, but also through experiences that reinforce affection, participation and hope.

Two foundations, one shared purpose

For Fundación Corazones por la Vida, collaboration has always been a way to multiply impact. Working alongside Soñar Despierto made it possible to bring together donated gifts, volunteers, invited personalities and an organized setting in which children could enjoy the day safely and with genuine attention.

Soñar Despierto’s work in Venezuela was closely associated with major activities on Children’s Day and during the Christmas season. Its volunteer-centered model sought to bring smiles and opportunities to children facing difficult circumstances. Corazones por la Vida contributed its own commitment to mobilizing artists, supporters and resources in service of the community.

From a donated gift to a moment of connection

The photographs preserved from the activity show a celebration filled with children, volunteers and supporters. They also reveal the most meaningful part of the initiative: the transition from an anonymous donation to a direct human exchange. Each gift was delivered within an atmosphere of closeness—accompanied by conversation, smiles and the presence of people who chose to spend the day serving.

Among the gifts visible in the historical archive are colorful educational materials. Objects that encourage drawing, writing and creativity carry a special value: they invite children to imagine, express themselves and continue learning long after the celebration ends.

Artists and public figures in service of childhood

Román EL RO, founder and president of Fundación Corazones por la Vida, participated personally in the activity. The archive shows him alongside children, volunteers and invited supporters, wearing the foundation’s identity and helping distribute the gifts.

The presence of artists and public figures can draw attention to a cause, but its true value is measured by what that visibility makes possible. On this day, recognition was placed at the service of childhood: not to overshadow the children, but to help make them the focus.

A celebration built by volunteers

Behind every photograph was a team. Volunteers guided children through the gathering, helped organize the delivery, accompanied families and made the event feel personal. Their white and green shirts became a visible symbol of collective action: many individuals contributing time and energy toward one shared result.

This is one of the enduring lessons of the 2011 celebration. Humanitarian work is not only a response to emergencies. It is also the patient work of building community, protecting joy and reminding children that their dreams matter.

Our continuing promise

Children deserve more than one special day.

The 2011 collaboration with Soñar Despierto is part of a longer institutional history: a foundation learning, year after year, how to transform public support into direct action.

Today, Corazones por la Vida continues working with vulnerable communities through health care, food assistance, hygiene, WASH, emergency response and volunteer service. The methods have expanded, but the principle remains unchanged: every action begins by recognizing the dignity of the person in front of us.

Keep the circle of care growing
