UNITED STATES — May 26, 2026. Fundación Corazones por la Vida launched an emergency GoFundMe campaign to support Aminta Pérez, mother of Óscar Pérez, after a serious medical crisis left her hospitalized and unable to work. The appeal brought together hundreds of people and ultimately raised more than $13,000 for her benefit.
The campaign was opened with Aminta’s authorization after representatives of the foundation visited her in the hospital, listened to her circumstances and recognized the urgency of her medical and economic situation. At 72 years old, she had been hospitalized following a severe fall and was receiving treatment for serious pneumonia under close medical supervision.

A moment that required immediate action
Her health history made the emergency especially concerning. In 2019, Aminta survived a major heart attack. In 2020, she was diagnosed with breast cancer, beginning another demanding period for her physical and emotional health. When the foundation learned that she was again hospitalized, unable to work and without sufficient financial stability, the priority was to create a safe and transparent way for people to help.
The appeal explained that assistance was needed for medical expenses, medicines, food, housing and essential care during the months in which she would need to focus on recovery. It invited those who knew her story—and anyone moved by her situation—to contribute or share the campaign.
A community transformed concern into support
The response crossed personal and geographic boundaries. Through 387 individual donations, supporters raised more than $13,000. Every contribution represented a person choosing to stand beside Aminta during a period marked by illness, uncertainty and the loss of her ability to work.
Following the campaign’s processing and financial reconciliation, the corresponding proceeds were transferred in accordance with the beneficiary’s documented instructions. Fundación Corazones por la Vida maintained supporting records for the campaign and the transfer while protecting private banking and personal information.
Gratitude—and good news
Today, the foundation is grateful to report that Aminta has recovered from the immediate medical crisis and is doing well. Her progress gives this story a hopeful conclusion and reflects what can happen when compassion is organized into responsible action.
Fundación Corazones por la Vida extends its heartfelt thanks to every donor, every person who shared the appeal and everyone who sent messages of support. The campaign demonstrated that a network of strangers, friends and community members can create meaningful relief when someone faces an emergency alone.
A responsible humanitarian response
Compassion must be accompanied by care and accountability.
The foundation’s role included obtaining authorization, documenting the beneficiary’s need, reconciling the campaign and transferring the proceeds according to written instructions—without publishing sensitive financial information.
