Medical care, hygiene and solidarity in Mare Abajo

By 9:00 a.m. on Friday, September 18, the Fundación Corazones por la Vida team was in Mare Abajo, La Guaira, for another community medical outreach. Doctors and volunteers brought medical supplies and personal hygiene kits to the area, alongside activities focused on water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH).

A place to be heard and cared for

Under the outreach tents, medical professionals met with residents for consultations and basic health checks, including blood pressure checks. These encounters created space for people to speak about their concerns and receive attention from the team in their own community.

Care that continues beyond the consultation

Medical attention was one part of the day. The foundation also brought personal hygiene kits and other essential items, while volunteers organized the distribution of supplies. WASH activities complemented the clinical work by keeping everyday hygiene and prevention at the center of the outreach.

Bringing these services together matters: residents could seek medical guidance and access practical support at the same community gathering. The team worked through the day to make those moments of care possible.

The people behind the outreach

Before and during every consultation, volunteers prepared the space, arranged materials and helped welcome residents. Fundación Corazones por la Vida returned to Mare Abajo with the same purpose that guides its work across La Guaira: to bring useful care to the people who need it, with dignity and consistency.
