CARACAS, VENEZUELA — December 3, 2010. Roman EL RO took the stage at Centro San Ignacio for a benefit organized by Fundación Corazones por la Vida in support of ACAT Venezuela. The concert helped raise funds for the organization’s work with people with disabilities and brought its message of inclusion to a wider community.

A concert with a purpose

The gathering turned an open community space into a place for music and collective action. Archival photographs show Roman performing, people joining the presentation onstage and families taking part in the day. Through the benefit, the foundation invited attendees to contribute to ACAT and learn why accessibility and respect for difference matter.

Beyond the concert, the foundation’s account of the event describes children’s activities, raffles and information stands about disability and the work of both organizations. The event connected fundraising with opportunities for conversation and participation.

Inclusion belongs in public life

ACAT’s name, Accesibilidad para Todos, expresses a straightforward ambition: a society in which people with disabilities can participate fully. Hosting a public event in support of its work made that call visible to audiences who came for music, families who joined the activities and supporters who contributed.

The date also carried wider meaning. December 3 is the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, observed annually to promote the rights and well-being of people with disabilities. For the foundation, the benefit offered a way to connect that message to practical support in Caracas.

Remembering the people behind the event

The archival images preserve more than a performance: they show the partnership among a musician, a foundation, a disability-focused organization and community members who gathered around the same purpose. The foundation remembers this event as one chapter of its work to bring people together in service of others.
